 3D vision compatibility adjustments
I'm new to this community, so if I'm off the mark somewhere, please be understanding.
Hellgate in 3D is amazing and highly recommended, but only if some modifications can be done.
The crosshair, target boxes, descriptive texts, and names are all 2d. This would be the equivalent of trying to enjoy a wonderful view while being harassed by a swarm of moths.
Just for the sake of simplicity, would it be viable to create an option (or build version), with none of those things on-screen? The best would be to turn all these items into 3d objects that render at the depth they should be at. I would be happy if they all just vanished. The crosshair is the most annoying, second to item description boxes, then target boxes.
Interestingly enough, when you return to a station, the CROSSHAIR WILL RENDER AT THE WHATEVER DEPTH you are presently looking at. There already is code in there somewhere for it. When you leave the stations (and need the crosshair the most), however, it is suddenly 2D. Very confusing.
I would do it if I knew how, but I'm just a babe in the woods as far as modding goes.

Howdy, welcome to the community and I'm worse off at modding than you if it helps Point well taken, never had that type of frustration about that aspect of Hellgate but it's all down to personal taste and view I guess.Don't know how feasible a mod what you suggest is, though I suppose it's not impossible at least at some extent. If a modder could take it up we'd see.

 Re: 3D vision compatibility adjustments
Yes that would be possible. I have some stuff I need to do first, but I can do it. Give me a couple of hours from the time this is posted, and I'll pm it to you. It might be best if it was possible, and it might be going by your comment about the crosshair, but, I would have a bit of a problem trying anything since I don't have access to a system that is 3d enabled. On a related note, I seem to be the only person who has done any work with the ui. From the looks of it, you are the only person with a 3d enabled setup, since no one else has mentioned it. *waits for half a dozen people to clamour that they've had 3d setups forever.*

Lol. Yes. As I've said, Hellgate in 3D is highly recommended, with the understanding that there are issues as the game wasn't developed with 3D use in mind. However, after having the problems solved, the game is an excellent experience.

I, too, have a 3D Vision setup, so if you are modding the 2D, etc. could you possibly upload the mod somewhere as well? I was actually really surprised with how well the game works in 3D and with these issues fixed it will be nearly perfect.

 Re: 3D vision compatibility adjustments
Malachor was able to remove the main 2D obstructions. There are two versions that evolved out of his mods. 1.) Removed the crosshair, & monster names and status. (PM Malachor for it.) 2.) Removed the crosshair, monster names and status, NPC names, & names of drops. (PM me for it.) I played around with the 1st option basing myself on a previous attempt Malachor had made and managed to get the 2nd version functioning. This does not convert objects to 3D, but removes the offending objects. I don't have any problems using it. I use the mini-map to locate any NPCs I need to get quests from as well as which portal I should use. The names of drops can be seen in your inventory once collected. There is only one thing you should keep your eyes open for -- objects within a quest map you need to activate (like sensors, etc.). The names do not show up. If you already have the Revival installation, use this patch:
