My Epic MMO Classes Idea *Warning : Potential Wall of Text*
https://docs.google.com/document/edit?i ... u4zM&hl=enSo basically what I have written so far, you'll get a bit of basic info on how the Classes work, if not... oh well, tough luck. :/

Very interesting. I realise it's not complete, but were you planning on having an equal number of classes per "path"? It seems a bit strange when the magician path has 13 classes, and the archer path has only 7.

Not at all, I just got bored typing out the descriptions. The reason Magic is diverse is... well, its diverse usually. :/ And if you minimize it to the Tier 3 Classes which are basically the finalized "Builds" its almost the same amount more or less. Some of the Classes are just for branching out on their stronger points. Warrior = Damage-Focused Knight = Defense-Focused Fencer = Accuracy-Focused

Looks intriguing indeed.
The way you've got things set up,it might've been interesting to bring it all around a leveling system similar to NWN's (prestige classes,multi-class and the such perhaps),just a thought there.

Re: My Epic MMO Classes Idea *Warning : Potential Wall of Te
Before the class system was more disorganized, after reading up and playing alot of D&D (Neverwinter Nights) the system is a bit more organized though.
All Classes are able to "Multi-Class each Basic Class Tree, (i.e: Magician with Fighter Sub-Class)
Sub-Classing is the system I devised to give some other classes more logical reasons to their Class Route.Sub-Classing basically lets your Character to have access to 5 Skills derived from the Basic Class of your choice. These 5 Skills will be maxed already. The Examples of Classes which need Sub-Classing include:
Dragoon (Warrior must have Archer Sub-class) - The Dragoon is the only Fighter Class that uses Ranged Weapons in a sense. They have access to Skills which involve throwing Javelins. Rune Knight (Knight must have Magician Sub-Class) Trapper (Hunter must have Thief Sub-Class) - The Thief Class, specifically the Rogue Branch, gains many Trap-disablement skills. Hence its reasoning for the Trapper. Templar (Priest must have Fighter Sub-Class) Paladin (Knight must have Cleric Sub-Class)
Some Classes gain specific bonuses and modify their overall equipment.
Magicians get a Familiar of some sorts after reaching 2nd Tier: Heretic -> Imp Wizard -> Rune Fragment Sorcerer -> Homunculus Trickster -> Spark Rabbit
This further upgrades once they reach Tier 3: Necromancer -> Tormented Soul Demonologist -> Succubus/Incubus (Opposite Gender of your Character) Hexer -> Cursed Imp Wizard -> Ancient Rune Fragment Sorcerer -> Combat/Pack Homunculus Illusionist -> Energy Rabbit
Hunter's & Ranger's get a new mini-character slot for their Flyer/Canine.
Beast Tamers get up to 3 Control of Pets and feeding time is reduced by 90% Beast Masters get up to 5 Control of Pets and feeding is no longer needed.
Cavaliers get a Saddle and they can now purchase various types of mounts located throughout the World.
Dragoons are able to temporarily manifest Dragon Wings for improved movement.
Paladins & Rune Knights are able to Teleport (All be it less effective)
Samurai get a Banner that has many beneficial Stat boosts...
Pirate gets a unique Equipment that goes on their Shoulder.
Shadow Knights gain a Black Flame Aura that drains life from nearby enemies.
Theres some more but I'm too bored to add it in. Also I forgot to add in another Class concept, The Mechanist - Which is basically the Lycanthropy Tree from the Druid in Diablo 2 but with Mecha-Power Suits.

Wow,you've actually put quite some thought into it haven't you. You've even gone as far as those specifics.
Might seem far-fetched,but have you thought about realizing it all? Not as an MMO necessarily, there's a ton other technicalities there.Perhaps an RPG of sorts. It would need a whole development team to be gathered from scratch,it would require tons of work to come out decent and it would most likely take some serious time and funds to do it.
Just thought I'd ask,I've seen work like this become something more just cause somebody snapped and took it off the paper.

Re: My Epic MMO Classes Idea *Warning : Potential Wall of Te
This idea has been brewing since I was 13 y/o (5 years I guess...) so yeah, I'm not sure yet, Once I finish College, I'm going to try and submit this to a company or form one myself once I get a stable income after finishing college. Well I'm thinking of going into these possible routes:
Pen & Paper Game (if thats even doable) A Action-RPG Dungeon Crawler... Or the MMORPG Thing...

Re: My Epic MMO Classes Idea *Warning : Potential Wall of Te
Personally I find the MMORPG route sounds too steep, unless of course you're lucky and find a company with the capability and will to do it.Disregarding the collosal amount of effort required both generally and balance-wise specifically (PvP can be a pain there),it's no doubt gonna drain some serious founds to pull off. I'd say the Action-RPG dungeon crawler seems much more manageable and perhaps it would do more justice to the potential your work has than an MMORPG would. Well if you somehow manage to go for an MMO and that's what you'd prefer to do with it...what can I say,go for it and best of luck with it all either way.

Re: My Epic MMO Classes Idea *Warning : Potential Wall of Te
It depends on how much freedom you want there to be. And how you want it to play out, whether you want a nonfocussed game, with everyone being equal, or one person/small group to be the focus. Whether you want to tell a story that's driven by the players, or one that happens around them, or one that happens to them.
