Summoners, Marksmen, Berial & Tokyo
« on: December 26, 2011, 05:23:10 PM »
In an attempt to clear away some of the tumbleweeds currently threatening to engulf our beloved forum, I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and make a post to wake everybody up, whilst getting a bit of information about feathers and stuff.

So, about two weeks ago I started a Summoner. I'd never played a Summoner properly before, ever. How fun is that thing? I can't believe it kept me away from my main Marksmen characters for two whole weeks. If I'm honest, I think the Summoner is a little easy, even on Nightmare difficulty (with the exception of a couple of bosses that I usually blow away with a MM). The Warper is fantastically powerful, if a little fragile and thanks to a nice piece of armour, I'm able to summon 5 Storm Elementals to go with 5 fire elementals, 1 force elemental, and one spectral elemental. I switch between Carnagor and Meatshield (for when the Warper gets pwned too easily) and the Warper (which I kept trying to shoot to start with...old habits die hard).

I have Witchdoctor as well but I keep forgetting I have it. I also have Zombie Form, but I don't really understand what it does, except that sometimes little Zombies join me but they perish easily and I can only melee whilst using the skill, which is annoying. The most refreshing thing about playing a Summoner is that I barely ever need to use health or mana potions, unlike with a MM.

But I digress.

So I finally beat Lilith with my main Marksman (with help from a Blademaster) and then solo'd Nahema. Then I beat Berial with the help of a 50/50 Summoner. I got nice loot from Nahema, but junk from Berial. I have read about feathers. Does Berial drop them? I'm wondering if I missed picking something up?

At last I've seen the Tokyo content. I didn't expect the invasion of Parliament Square and the "Explore the Abyss" was awesome (and a touch difficult for my 50/10 MM). The road to Tokyo base was also brilliant. I've just got my first quests from Tokyo base, but I had to quit due to the horrendous lag and massive ping. I've also noticed this last week that the FPS loss bug is back with a vengeance. Sometimes my game freezes completely for 10-20 seconds, which has never happened to me before.

So, about these feathers. Have I missed something?

Feathers is the key to access Belial, like the heads for molly. You need to speak to the flame near the Belial door to get a quest where you have to fill a bar by killing mobs. Once this bar is full, talk to the flame again and you ll have to chosse between 3 "talismans". Once you have all 3 talismans, they are keys to Lillith, Nahema and Behemoth. You kill the 3 bosses and you ll receive 3 "pieces" (time, domain and spell iirc). Combine those 3 in the cube and you ll have a feathers for a Belial kill !
If you do some catas runs, you can easily fill those bars really fast and get feathers pretty quickly.

For Dark Form, it the thing that make summoners invincibles. You ll get a huge amount of HP and armor. Put it at 4 and grab 2 1 handed weapons with 3 DF on each and you ll have 10/10 dark form and be able to run in the middle of the mobs without any troubles ^^

Thanls for the info.

I think I'm a little confused. I do remember a feather type thing a few months ago. I activated it and just thought that nothing happened, and then forgot about it. It disappeared but I think I might have cubed it. I've done the filling the bars thing, and killed Lilith (and at least one boss before it), then Nahema, and finally Berial. I've completed all of the Catacombs, including Occy at 15.  I got a few Hu's and Hecate's in the process which made me  :D I killed Moloch and got a nice set of Eyes of the Maverick and a pair of TPJ's which made me  :D :D

I'm at Tokyo Base now.

Are Berial and Belial different bosses? Can I go back to Abyss and repeat Lilith, Nahema and Berial?

Where do I find Hurricanes, set items, and Mythic items?

BeRial is just an engrish translation made by T3, but it s the same guy.

Hurricanes : Belial

Set boots : Kurodon
      Heads : Kaibutsnatan
      Pant : Molly
      Gloves : Occulis
      Pads,chest,belt : Base defense.

Mythics : 3 on Belial , all on Kaibutsnatan and all in base def to.

I   :D :D :D  at the Berial/Belial thing.

I guess the answer is that Abyss bosses are not repeatable? That's a shame and a bit crass to be honest. I'm pretty sure that I didn't even get a Unique from Berial, let alone any Mythic items. I got a nice Unique Summoner/Evoker Focus Item from Nahema that I mailed to my Summoner for use later on.

Oh well, I guess it's back to Moloch and Occulis then  ::)

You can obviously farm abyss bosses like all others. Just need to have the talismans/feathers in order to make em pop.

That sound promising.

Where do I get the feathers/Talismans? I thought you only got one when you finished the second invasion? Do you have to kill Astaroth again to get more?

I went back to Parliament Square and it's empty of active NPC's.

You certainly did, but I'm obviously not understanding you.

Not to worry, I'll figure it out another day. Planetside calls me tonight  :D

I fixed it.

Every time I tried to go back to Parliament Square I was taken to "Upheavel" instead. Which explains why there was no flames in the Abyss pillars, and no active NPC's in the square. Just lots of demons and a Hellrift.

I deleted my save game folder and repatched. I don't know which one did the trick, but now when I go back to Parliament Square it's back to how it should be and I can get the quests for the Talisman pieces. This is awesome as next to The Wilds, The Catacombs are my favourite area of the game. Having a reason to go from 11-15 again makes me happy  :)

Don t make the mistake to go to lvl 55 and thinking about making ranks in cats tho. Catas mobs lvl will scale to you so you ll be fine doing these at lvl 50 and still having the opportunity to grind in SH.
