Hellgate: Tokyo released!
« on: September 22, 2011, 08:14:19 AM »
At long last, the update we've been waiting for is finally here!

Now you can use your Talisman and Cryptex items, and Hell difficulty is freely selectable in the dropdown. Tokyo content can be accessed after purchasing a ticket from the cash shop.

For a full list of details, look here.

Maybe i just expected too much from tokyo ... it looked great had some real fun but as far as the story line goes it was really really quick for a play through... but i havent had time to check out based defense or the "cow" level. won't keep me from playing but still

I really enjoyed the trip in Tokyo. All zones are pretty huge and crowded. Good fast pace action all the way, and not boring at all like 2nd attack.
The main problem is : FPS ISSUES !!!!!
Cow level could be really fun but it s unplayable. I have a brand new PC and i put everything to minimum but i only have normal fps like 20% of the time in this area :(

The difficulty for Base defense and cow level are really high and it s surely to push ppl into cash shop once again :(
We ll make some other team setups tommorow for base defense. We did couple runs with guild with a tank, a BM (440 ish DPS on both hands for him) a 55/50 MM but in a single target setup and wy evo (380 and 330 dd for focis). We didn t managed to success the 10 minutes defense in NORMAL mode ^^'.

ok, and da main question is: WHERE TO FARM THOSE LUCKY TICKETS? How about starting areas with 20 kill count in hell
in case of panic, break the glass, exit through the window.

I haven't yet tried to do any real ticket farming but once I get through Tokyo quest line I'll try how does regular xp runs in Catacombs do (tried 11-15 NM once but didn't get that many tickets). One option could be Hell Astaroth with his adds - when Korean server had football world cup event Astaroth was the best place to farm footballs so maybe it's the same for tickets too.

As they only drop on messengers or champions i thought canon street hell was the best place. I tried this morning but it wasn t that successfull. I got nearly 100 just by running through the main quest but i get 20 with 1.5 hour in canon rail :(

If the listed items are what I think they are, Prism of Abyss and Megan's Fury have "for Challengers" suffixes (sword is different from the Future City quest). Explosion Rifle of Age doesn't even exist, so they got the name wrong there.
I'll check out what that third weapon is along with any unlisted contents.

As some of us found out last night, the quests give tons of XP. As in, anywhere between 50k and 400k.
I also noticed that one of the quest NPCs in Tokyo Base looks like Bayonetta.

The wiki has the majority of new items and the Cow Room bosses added, minus a few of the non-unique rings (done).
Since the Mod Bag has "Intermediate" in the name, I'll find out what the other unimplemented one is. I like the concept of being able to store lots of mods outside of the main inventory space, though.

Thanks Firv  :D

Having an npc named Ichigo as part of the Tokyo content stroke me as a Bleach reference, might be wrong. But,"Anaksunamun" and "Imhotep"?I'm sure Patricia Velásquez and Arnold Vosloo looked nothing like that in the movies.Well,Vosloo did a little bit.

Hope I can get a mod bag at some point, gonna need it :P

I spent last night leveling my character and as such did not get a chance to look at any of the new stuff. Some general questions for those that did have a look:

1. Is there any pre-reqs (other than the ticket) to get to Tokyo? What I mean is, do you need to finish the 2nd invasion before embarking on the new quests (i.e., having killed Berial).

2. Does the Base Defence and Cow Level use dynamic leveling or are they fixed at a certain level?

3. Is Hell Mode a must for these new areas to make them worthwhile or can NM cut it for solo play?

As for ticket farming, I noticed that the Fat Bully quest on Hell Mode produced several (i.e., 10 within 5 minutes) due to Fat Bully, Tantorsaurus respawns and the Messenger (after 20 kills) making several appearances. There seemed to be at least one passage/rift per instance too which helped the messenger respawn.

The loot tables last night were also the highest I have seen since playing, during NM/Hell Shadow XP runs the ground in the first room was covered in stuff - I ended up with 20 tickets (without really looking too hard) and at least 3 EOTM and too many Legendarys and Uniques (the crap kind mind you) to pick up.

1. You must finish Abyss before being able to access Tokyo. Titus in Parliament Square brings you to Upheaval, which is the first area of the Tokyo content.

3. Not sure what you mean. The areas either don't scale or cap at 50-51 (I'm assuming the latter).

Good point about Fat Bully, since the Leg Up quest is repeatable in a low-level area.
Just from my brief session last night I didn't notice a big difference in drops.

We failed at 4 seconds before the end of the base defense today. We had 2 well stuffed evos, 1 good BM and a huge striker engi. The last waves are full of giant tormenters it s really gangfull :p . Oh thumper we were in normal mode ;)

Yikes! Okay, that answers that question  :o

Just from my brief session last night I didn't notice a big difference in drops.

Firv, what I meant was that certain creature levels (like Asteroth and the denizens in the maps leading to him) are fixed (I ran this quest last night to get it out of the way, I was 55R4 and the beasties were L40, so it seemed kind of... off). But I also noticed that the few times I've had a shot at Molly, regardless of group makeup, he was L55. With this new area coming after the Abyss as it does I was wondering if the Tokyo maps were scaled to what the devs expected a character to be when they got there or if they dynamically meet your level (like SH does - I can be L42 but if the L50 guys jumps first all the beasties are L50). Not explaining this very well, am I? Hopefully you get the drift. you'd think that after me playing this freaking game for so long I would know this stuff. You would be wrong, however  ;).

As for the drop rates, I did a LOT of Shadow runs over the last week to get my guy up to 55, where it was most notable was in both the amount of crap that was dropped (in particular, analyzers and essences) and the type of things that dropped (a huge amount of mods, mostly blues and greens but several golds). It's almost like ti was done on purpose - but I doubt that  ::).

It looks like the listed box results are the only possible contents, and I guess the gun is a plain old Agitator. Apparently there's no "regular" Mod Bag.
